Today in Slovenia Fabio Mazzucco and Filippo Zana began the adventure in the highest category. The two riders last year among the most interesting juniors in the national scene and protagonists in 2017 Bergen world championship, made their debut in Gp Izola with the shirt of Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896. Alongside their more experienced teammates Alessandro Fedeli, Panamanian Cristoff Jurado, Colombian Javier Ignacio Montoya, Spanish Manuel Peñalver and Argentine Nicolas Tivani.
The race for the youngsters directed by Volodymyr Starchyk was not the luckiest. Because of the bad weather the route has been simplified and the mileage reduced due to the bora (106 km instead of 161 provided by the program), not going to meet the characteristics of our strongest riders that preferred mixed routes. Montoya was forced to set foot on the ground because of the cold, Jurado and Zana crashed and reported various bruises and Peñalver, the designated captain of the day, was knocked out by mechanical failure. At the decisive sprint, won by Serbian Dusan Rajovic (Adria Mobil), Tivani ended in sixth place.
Filed this unlucky Sunday, the team will be back in the race on March 4th in Larciano at Gp Industria & Commercio, another chance to accumulate precious experience among professionals.
