What a day for Team Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896 which dominated Trofeo Edil C, international race for Under 23 on the Italian roads today in Collecchio (PR).
With an attack at 2 km from the finish Alessandro Fedeli took a solo victory while his teammate Abderrahim Zahiri managed to catch the second place beating French Robin Meyer (Avc Aix en Provence) and Colombian Sebastian Castano Munoz (UC Monaco), with whom he managed to anticipate the group’s comeback.
«I am really happy. I needed to break the ice and I was driven by a particular motivation: I wanted to cross the finish line with my arms raised to dedicate the success to my grandfather, who left me and my loved ones two weeks ago. My team mates were superb, Zahiri lit the race with 4 laps to go and imposed a strong rhythm on the final climb. Mazzucco, Zana and Vargas from behind have covered our shoulders at best. In the end, being in numerical superiority in the group of four that had taken off, we could not miss the opportunity. We took it and we are proud of it» comments the 22 years old from Negrar (VR) at the first seasonal win with Trevigiani Phonix.
The team of president Ettore Renato Barzi from tomorrow will be in Benidorm, Spain, for a training camp under the supervision of general manager Mirko Rossato. Next race scheduled will be Tour of Mersin (Turkey, 19-22 April).
