Great success of participation in 103rd Popolarissima, historic race organized in Treviso on the third Sunday of March by UC Trevigiani, which today saw over 160 riders coming from all over the world.
Unfortunately, the home team, Trevigiani Phonix Hemus 1896, failed to honor it at best due to a crash in the penultimate of the 12 laps of the city circuit.
Nicolas Tivani, the designated sprinter, ended up on the ground with his teammatesFloryan Arnoult and young Colombian Adrian Vargas, at the first race with the new colors. In the sprint Spanish Manuel Peñalver, launched by Fabio Mazzucco, gave his best but did not go beyond the 12th place.
The victory went to Giovanni Lonardi of Zalf Euromobil Fior, with Filippo Fortin (Felbermayr Simplon) and Nicolas Dalla Valle (Colpak) completing the podium of the prestigious international race.
«I regret not being able to grasp a better position for President Ettore Renato Barzi and all those who support us, including the sponsors present today to support us in person. At 100 meters from the finish line I was in the lead and I thought I could win, but in the end I missed my legs and I was reassembled both on the right and on the left. I am sorry» says Peñalver after 175 km of race with cold, wind and rain.
The team led by Mirko Rossato will have the opportunity to re-create shortly. From Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th March it will be in fact engaged among professionals at Coppi & Bartali International Week. At the stage race organized by GS Emilia are going to participate Floryan Arnoult, Fabio Mazzucco, Cristoff Jurado,Alessandro Fedeli, Nicolas Tivani, Adrian Vargas and Manuel Peñalver.
